Original textile art as part of the ongoing series of work, Threadbare Woman, exploring womanhood in midlife.
A note on frames.
For the most part, I use frames that have already held a place in someone's home. I trawl charity shops and online. Many of the frames are slightly battered, preloved, and clearly used. I clean them and ensure the joints are secure but they are not refurbished to the point of hiding their imperfections. I am interested in their previous life in the domestic setting and why they have been discarded. I use a mix of simple and ornate frames to explore how setting influences the everday.
